UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the UN Security Council (UNSC) unanimously adopted the resolution tightening the sanctions imposed on North Korea. The document implies prohibition of imports of coal, iron, iron ore, lead and seafood from the Asian nation by the UN member states.
"The ballistic missiles, which were launched without warning from North Korea, are posing major risk to marine and air transport in the region as well as to the lives of ordinary civilians. We call on North Korean government to end the banned programs and to return to the NPT non-proliferation regime and the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] oversights, as well as to join the Chemical Weapons Convention," Nebenzya said at the UNSC session during the discussion of the adopted resolution.
