BERLIN (Sputnik) – The stance of the German federal government on the issue of Crimea remains unchanged, the head of the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) was only expressing his opinion on the issue, Deputy Spokesperson of the German Government Ulrike Demmer said on Monday.
FDP leader Christian Lindner told local media last week that Crimea’s status as part of Russia "for now … must be seen as a permanent provision."
"The German government took note of the statement of the leader of the Free Democratic Party, this is his personal opinion," Demmer told a briefing, adding that "nothing has changed in the stance of the federal government regarding Ukraine."
