MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the Hurriyet newspaper, the suspects, believed to have arrived in the city to organize an attack, were detained in an operation conducted jointly by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the Istanbul Police Department’s counterterrorism bureau.
The police seized guns, a muffler as well as digital data and documents during an operation at the suspects’ address in Istanbul, the media outlet reported.
Over the past few years, Turkey was hit by a series of deadly terrorist attacks by the Daesh, such as the attack at the Reina nightclub in Istanbul on January 1, 2017, which resulted in the deaths of 39 people, including over 20 foreigners.
