The monument is made in the form of a stele with the image of Castro, accompanied with one of the politician's famous quotes: "Victory is persistence." From the bench situated near the monument, one can take in a fantastic sunset over the Black Sea.
Crimea's Minister of Information Dmitri Polonski was present at the unveiling ceremony. He noted that Castro has forbidden his native Cuba from naming any landmarks after him, and added that "it seems unfair when a great, without exaggeration, political leader will have no chance to be perpetuated."
