"The women were working in the security section at Bagram Air Base and their duties were to search people before entering to the base. Three of the employees were killed and another was wounded," Qudousi said, as quoted by the Tolonews broadcaster.
According to the official, the gunmen escaped the scene. The broadcaster added that no terrorist group has claimed the responsibility for the attack yet.
Bagram Air Base is the largest US military base in Afghanistan, located 25 miles away from Kabul. In late June, a gunman killed six Afghan security guards and injured another two on their way to Bagram Air Base. The Taliban terrorist group (banned in Russia) claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Afghanistan has been facing instability for many years, with government troops fighting against Islamic extremists and terror organizations, in particular the Taliban radical movement and the Daesh terrorist group, both banned in Russia.
