Over 31,000 Tourists Evacuated From China’s Soutwester Sichuan After Earthquake

BEIJING (Sputnik) — According to the Chinese Central Television (CCTV), a total of 164 people were injured.

Earlier in the day, the authorities of the region said that at least 9 people were killed.

The 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of the Sichuan province late on Tuesday and was followed by over 100 aftershocks. Another powerful quake of 6.4 magnitude hit China’s northwestern Xinjiang region early on Wednesday. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
