MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The prime minister said that "fake news media" outlets predicted isolation for Israel if it did not give in in the protracted land dispute with Palestine, but the forecast never became reality.
"Now, you see, because both the left and the media – it's the same thing, you know – they are enlisting now in an obsessive, unprecedented hunting trip against me my family with a goal to carry out a government coup. Their goal is to apply unacceptable and incessant pressure on law enforcement authorities to indict at all costs, regardless of the truth and justice," Netanyahu said at a rally with the supporters of his conservative Likud party, as quoted by the Haaretz newspaper.
"The media and the left that it serves – it’s hard for them to accept that [the government's popularity], so they produce endless affairs and articles and headlines so that maybe something will stick… They’re demanding from the law enforcement authorities: 'Give us something; it doesn’t matter what'," Netanyahu said.
The rally took place shortly after Ari Harow, a former chief of staff in Netanyahu's government, decided to become a state witness in corruption cases against the prime minister.
