WARSAW (Sputnik) — The minister added that one power unit of the NPP would cost about 25 billion zloty ($6.8 billion at the current exchange rates), however he had not received an approval of the country's Prime Minister Beata Szydlo to look for investors.
"I am a strong supporter of building NPPs in Poland. I have persuaded my colleagues in the government, because there is still no complete agreement on the issue," Tchorzewski said, as quoted by the PAP news agency.
At the moment, there are no NPPs in the Eastern European country. Warsaw had plans to construct an NPP during Communist rule, however the project has not been implemented due to a number of reasons, including public opinion opposing nuclear energy in the wake of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.
