MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Spokesperson for the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command told the Anadolu news agency that intensified airstrikes and artillery fighting against the Maute and Abu Sayyaf terror groups were launched at 7 a.m. local time (23:00 GMT, Wednesday).
At least nine terrorists were killed in the latest attacks, according to the news agency.
Martial law was declared on the island in May by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte after a conflict broke out between Philippine security forces and Islamic extremists affiliated with the Daesh.
