Russia’s Defense Ministry said Friday it had to scramble jet fighters four times over the past week to chase off foreign reconnaissance aircraft.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Flight intensity figures published on the ministry’s website showed that a total of 12 spy planes flew missions along the Russian borders over the stated period of time. None of them trespassed.

Last week the ministry reported about 19 foreign reconnaissance missions and three instances when Russian military aircraft had to intervene.
