MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) liberated 125 civilians from Daesh terror group militants (outlawed in Russia) in the southern neighborhood of Syria's Raqqa, media reported Thursday.
The Kurdish Hawar News Agency indicated that during the SDF operation carried out in the Nazlet Shuhadah neighborhood two civilians and two SDF members were injured.
According to the media outlet, those wounded were taken to the hospital, while other liberated civilians were provided with food and water and were brought to safe areas.
Raqqa has remained under the control of the Daesh since 2013. The operation to liberate the city was launched by the SDF, supported by the US-led international coalition, in early June.
