WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The investigation into the matter is ongoing and the United States has no definitive answers to the cause of the physical symptoms experienced by US government workers, Nauert added.
"We will not confirm the health status of any Americans whether they’re in Cuba, back here at home or elsewhere," Nauert said. "What I can tell you is these were us government personnel who were in Cuba in Havana on official duty."
The United States continues to remain in regular contact with the Cuban government, which is providing assistance in the investigation, Nauert stated. At the moment, the United States cannot blame any individual or country in the incident, she added.
The State Department learned about the incident in late 2016, which the United States responded to by expelling two diplomats from the Cuban Embassy in Washington on May 23. On Wednesday, Nauert said the physical symptoms are non-life threatening.
