Russia's St. Petersburg-based Admiralty Shipyards is ready to build advanced Project 21300 rescue ships for export, the company’s CEO Alexander Buzakov said in an interview with Sputnik.

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — The lead ship in the series, the Igor Belousov, which was commissioned in December 2015 as part of the 79th rescue unit of the Pacific Fleet, has already been demonstrated to potential buyers, according to Buzakov.

"During the transfer from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok, we organized three demonstrations to our potential customers, which resulted in a number of meetings … and we expect that we will eventually receive this order," Buzakov said.

Buzakov added that the terms of construction and the number of vessels would depend on the customer.

"We will build faster, but everything will depend on the technical task of the customer. At least, there are already proposals on the appearance and the price," he said.

The Igor Belousov ship has been designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau and significantly exceeds comparable foreign models in terms of its operational and tactical characteristics. The ship could be deployed to assist crews of submarines in distress lying on the ground or floating on surface, as well as to deliver air, electricity and life-support appliances to naval vessels.

The ship is over 100 meters (328 feet) long and displaces over 5,000 metric tonnes. The vessel carries a variety of special rescue equipment, including the Bester-1 deep-sea rescue submersible. It is also equipped with remote control systems, a pressure chamber and the necessary medical equipment.

Admiralty Shipyards is a subsidiary of Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).
