The United States is not interested in talking about back channels with North Korea as tensions build up between the two countries, President Donald Trump said in a press conference on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Trump said the United States will have immediate success against North Korea.

"We don’t want to talk about progress, we don’t want to talk about back channels," Trump stated. "We want to talk about a country that has misbehaved for many, many year, decades actually, through numerous administrations. They didn’t want to take on the issue and I have no choice but to take it on."

On Tuesday, Trump threatened North Korea with "fire and fury" if Pyongyang made any further threats against the United States.

North Korea said on Wednesday it was considering a missile attack on the US island of Guam, which hosts several US military bases.
