According to information received from SDF sources, in the framework of the operation for the liberation of Raqqa, there is an increase in the number of clashes with Daesh terrorists.
Due to the use of cars packed with explosives by the terrorists, as well as multiple booby traps, there are a number of civilian casualties taking place. But despite the hardships, the SDF is making steady progress in liberating the city.
“The fighting in Raqqa has been going on for 68 days now. As a result of the advancement made by our forces, we have succeeded in liberating 60 percent of the city's territory from Daesh,” Balli said in an interview with Sputnik Turkey.
In some quarters the fighting continues and the SDF fighters are gradually moving towards the center of the city.
“In addition, we managed to unite the eastern and northwestern front in Raqqa, thereby breaking the positions of Daesh in a vast territory,” Balli added.
Earlier, it was reported that 125 civilians held by Daesh terrorists were liberated during a military operation carried out by the SDF in the Nazlet Shuhadah neighborhood.
The Kurdish Hawar News Agency indicated that during the SDF operation carried out in Nazlet Shuhadah, two civilians and two SDF members were injured.
Raqqa has remained under the control of Daesh since 2013. The operation to liberate the city was launched by the SDF, supported by the US-led international coalition, in early June.
