James Alex Fields, a 20-year-old white supremacist and the primary the suspect behind the deadly car-ram, stands accused of second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and one count of hit and run.
As the violence on the streets escalated, a man plowed his car into the crowd of protesters. As a result of the attack, a woman who was later identified as 32-year-old Heather Heyer, died, and 19 people sustained injuries.
Judge Robert Downer declined to set bond at a hearing Monday for Fields until he has legal representation.
When Judge Robert H. Downer Jr. asked if Fields could afford an attorney, he said "no sir." He makes about $600/2 weeks per financial docs.

The next court hearing on Fields' case is scheduled for August 25.
Earlier today, The Washington Post reported that back in high school, the young man had allegedly held supremacist views and felt "fascination" with Nazism.
