The South Korean authorities do not confirm reports about any preparations made by North Korea for possible submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) test, South Korea's Unification Ministry spokesman Baik Tae-hyun said Monday.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — On Sunday, US-based online project 38 North, monitoring North Korea, reported that recent satellite images show the increased activity in the North Korea's Sinpo Shipyard, explaining that it may be a sign of North Korea's preparations for SLBM test.

"We can confirm that there are no specific movements in North Korea at the moment… The US and South Korean intelligence services are closely following any movements, which may be connected to further provocations," Baik told a briefing, as quoted by the Yonhap news agency.

In July, North Korea conducted two intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) tests, which have resulted in tightening of economic sanctions against North Korea by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on August 5.

The move prompted harsh criticism from Pyongyang which subsequently vowed to use any means possible to retaliate against the United States after the UNSC approved the new US-drafted sanctions. US President Donald Trump in turn, warned, that North Korea’s possible actions would be met with "fire and fury" from the United States. Following the statement, Pyongyang said it considered an attack near the Pacific island of Guam where several US military bases were located.
