MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A man suspected of intentionally driving a car into a pizzeria in the Sept-Sorts village near Paris has been charged with aggravated murder for killing a teenage girl, French media reported late on Wednesday.
David Patterson, 32, appeared before a tribunal in the town of Meaux, the France 2 television channel reported.
The suspect could not explain why he had rammed his BMW into the terrace of a packed pizza parlor this Monday, causing injuries to more than 20 visitors and killing a young girl.
The French prosecution said earlier Patterson had a history of medical drug abuse and had been examined by a psychiatrist.
The channel reported he had confessed to cannabis use and being intoxicated at the time of the offense. The judge has charged Patterson with multiple counts, including murder. He faces a life in jail.
