19:37 GMT 17.08.2017 (Updated: 20:46 GMT 19.10.2022) The deadly van attack in Barcelona, which occurred earlier in the day, has claimed lives of 13 people, while 80 people were hospitalized, President of the Catalan Government Carles Puigdemont said Thursday.
MADRID (Sputnik) — The president also praised the work of law enforcement agencies. “Our democracy will fight with terrorism no matter where it happens,” Puigdemont said in an address, broadcast by the 24 Horas.
The Catalan president reportedly confirmed that two people had already been detained in connection with the incident.
