Earlier, a Barcelona city counselor had confirmed that one person had died and that of the 32 people injured and taken to hospital, 10 were seriously hurt in the attack. Local media has also reported that at least 56 people have been taken to the hospital.
Cadena Ser radio aired a report saying that at least 13 people had died before the official confirmation.
"Thirteen people have died in the incident which has been classified as a terror attack," the radio report said.

The incident has been classified a terror attack, Catalan police have confirmed.
Following the attack, two armed men have barricaded themselves in a bar in Barcelona's city center.
