MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to La Tribune Afrique, President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso signed a decree dismissing Mouamba's government on Thursday.
"Prime Minister Clement Mouamba submitted the Government's resignation to the President of the Republic and he accepted it on Wednesday, August 16, 2017," the statement was quoted as saying by La Tribune Afrique newspaper.
The resignation of the government followed the dramatic deterioration of the economic situation in the country caused by fall in oil prices and government revenues. On Tuesday, the Congolese president affirmed that the country was facing "real and disturbing" economic problems.
The date of the formation of the next government has not been specified.
