Poland is not facing the prospect of terror acts because of Warsaw’s tough policy with regard to migrants, Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said Thursday following a deadly van attack in Barcelona, Spain.

WARSAW (Sputnik) – In 2015, Poland refused to accept refugees under the European Commission’s deal on the distribution of 160,000 undocumented migrants, staying on the territory of Italy and Greece, among the EU countries, under the quota plan.

"We do everything for it [Poland] to be in safety and do not agree to accept refugees… In Poland we do not have Muslim communities, which exist as enclaves, which represent essential environment for Islamic terrorists," Blaszczak explained.

Blaszczak stressed that Spain was certainly hit by a terror attack and recalled that the methods were used by terrorists in attacks on Nice, Stockholm and London.

"Unfortunately, the process continues. This is the problem of the entire Europe. Poland does not face this sort of situation as Poland does not have a place, inhabited by the people who are not integrated with the place, where they have arrived," Blaszczak added.

Earlier in the day, a van hit pedestrians in Barcelona’s central Ramblas area. Catalonia’s authorities said that 13 people were killed and over 100 were injured in the incident.

Stokholm experienced a ramming attack on April 7, when a stolen truck drove into a crowd of people on major pedestrian street Drottninggatan, leaving at least four people dead, whereas the United Kingdom has been subjected to a wave of terror attacks since the beginning of 2017, including several car-ramming assaults at Finsbury Park, on the London Bridge and the Westminster Bridge. In July 2016, a ramming incident took place in the French city of Nice, when a truck smashed into the crowd killing 86.
