MADRID (Sputnik) — On Thursday, a van hit pedestrians in the center of Barcelona killing at least 13 people and reportedly injuring over 130 others. Hours after the incident, another vehicle attack took place in Catalonia's southern town of Cambrils. A police officer and six civilians were hurt, with one woman succumbing to her injuries earlier in the day.
According to Spain's law enforcement, 61 people injured in the Barcelona attack are currently being treated in hospitals. Seventeen patients are in critical condition, 25 have had their conditions marked as grave, seven are in moderately grave condition, and the remaining 12 only suffered minor injuries.
The four Cambrils attack victims are being treated in hospitals in the city of Tarragona. Three of them are gravely injured while the condition of the fourth patient is moderately grave.
In a counterterrorism operation following the Cambris incident, four attack suspects were killed and one died from his wounds later.
The Catalan police said earlier on Friday, that three Moroccan nationals and a Spanish national were among those detained in relation to Thursday's attacks. The alleged Barcelona van driver is still at large.
