The Democratic Party said in a statement on Friday that there will be one less white supremacist in the with White House as Chief Strategist Steve Bannon leaves, but the move will not change the hateful views and activities of President Donald Trump.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Commenting on the resignation of Trump's top aviser, the Democrats said in a statement, "there is one less white supremacist in the White House," adding "that doesn't change the man sitting behind the resolute desk."

"Donald Trump has spent decades fueling hate in communities, including his recent attempts to divide our country and give a voice to white supremacists," the statement reads.

The Democrats said in the statement the United States still needs leaders that represent the diversity of the American people.

Earlier on Friday, White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that Steve Bannon and Chief of Staff John Kelly mutually decided this would be Bannon's last day.

Bannon, 63, stirred up controversy by getting job in the US Administration. Having worked for ultra-conservative media outlet Breitbart News, he has been repeatedly called by opponents a white supremacist.
