MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Palestine’s Gaza Strip has been suffering from severe shortages of basic commodities caused by a decade-long blockade by Egypt and Israel.
"Egypt’s decision to block the entry of the aid convoy is very unfortunate and does not reflect the positive spirit that has recently characterized Gaza-Egypt relations," the National Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza said, as quoted by the Daily Sabah newspaper.
Egyptian government has not provided any comments on the statement so far, according to the newspaper.
Earlier in the day, Egypt closed the Rafah crossing at Egypt-Gaza border after allowing the Palestinian pilgrims to return to Gaza from Egypt for the last four days, according to media reports.
