MADRID (Sputnik) — King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia have talked to those injured and hospital staff. The royal couple is expected to visit the place of the attack on Barcelona's central La Rambla pedestrian mall later on Saturday.
"Barcelona was not and will not be alone, it is supported by Spain. This attack, this killing, has shocked everyone. We are not afraid," the Spanish king said during the visit as quoted by 24 Horas broadcaster.
On Thursday, a van hit pedestrians in the center of Barcelona, killing 13 people and reportedly injuring over 130 others of 34 nationalities. Hours after the incident, another vehicle attack took place in Catalonia's southern town of Cambrils. In the attack, a police officer and six civilians were injured and at least one of them died later.
The victims of the terrorist attacks in Catalonia are of 34 nationalities, the Catalan emergencies service said Friday. According to Friday's figures by Spain's law enforcement, 61 people injured in the Barcelona attack and four Cambrils attack victims were being treated in hospitals.
