MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The CBS broadcaster reported on Saturday about the heavy police presence in the area for extra precautions. Security forces had to separate protesters and counter-protesters as part of the crowd at the city hall moved to a Confederate monument at Pioneer Park.

A "Unite the Right" white nationalists' rally that was held to protest authorities' plans to remove a monument of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from a Charlottesville park, led to clashes with left-wing counter-protesters and culminated in a car-ramming attack that killed one person and injured 19 others.
