Seoul's assistance should facilitate recovery from the disaster and stabilize the lives of local residents, the Yonhap news agency reported citing the South Korean Foreign Ministry.
According to the media outlet, support of the countries hit by natural disasters is part of South Korea's humanitarian diplomacy.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said in a press release on Tuesday that an estimated 3,000 or more people were believed to have lost their homes and were in immediate need of emergency assistance and shelter.
International charity Save the Children expressed concerns in a statement on Friday over the potential spread of cholera and contamination of water in Sierra Leone.
