According to the US Senate Majority leader, there is no chance Congress will not vote to raise the debt ceiling.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — There is no chance Congress will not vote to raise the debt ceiling, US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said at an event in his home state of Kentucky on Monday.

"There is zero chance, no chance, we won't raise the debt ceiling," McConnell stated. "No chance. America's not going to default. And we'll get the job done in conjunction with the Secretary of the Treasury."

Last week, US Congressman Tom Cole said he and other members of the Republican Party in the House of Representatives are not likely to support a clean bill to increase the debt limit.

Congress has until September 29 to raise the debt ceiling before the government risks defaulting on its debt.
