WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Gallup’s US Economic Confidence Index averaged plus 11 last week, up three points from a week earlier and nine points above its previous 2017 high in mid-March, the release explained.
"Americans' economic perceptions have been mostly positive throughout 2017," a press release explaining the poll said.
"This is a fundamental change from 2008 through most of 2016, when pessimism prevailed."
The Gallup index averages two components from surveys of US workers: how Americans rate current economic conditions and whether they believe the economy is improving or getting worse.
