US B-1, B-52 Bombers Join 'Ample Strike' Exercise in Czech Republic - Pentagon

US B-1 and B-52 bombers have landed at an airbase in the United Kingdom en route to a series of air shows in Eastern Europe before participating in NATO’s Ample Strike military exercise in the Czech Republic, the US European Command (EUROCOM) said in a press release on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US B-1 and B-52 bombers will conduct flyovers at the Slovak International Air Fest in Slovakia and the Radom International Air Show in Poland before joining the NATO drill, the at the 42nd Air Training Base, Radom-Sadkow, Poland, from Aug. 26-27

"Following the flyovers, the bomber aircraft are scheduled to participate in exercise Ample Strike 2017 in the Czech Republic, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 9,"the release said.

As many as 300 international personnel from 17 allied and partner nations, and 1,000 members of the Czech armed forces, will focus on training to increase interoperability, including live-fire exercises, according to NATO.

The B-1 bombers hail from the 7th Bomb Wing in the US state of Texas and the B-52 from the state of Louisiana.
