MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A terrorism investigation has been opened into a man who was caught near Buckingham Palace in possession of a large knife, the London Metropolitan Police said early on Saturday.
"Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command are now investigating the incident which occurred near Buckingham Palace on the evening of Friday, 25 August," the statement read.
Police said they had arrested a man in his twenties after spotting a large bladed weapon inside his car as he pulled up near a police vehicle parked in a restricted area.
Two police officers suffered minor injuries to their arm as they wrestled the suspect out of his car. The man was slightly injured and was taken to a London hospital for treatment.
