The Syrian army and Hezbollah fighters have fully liberated the mountainous Qalamoun, the area on the border with Lebanon, from Daesh terrorist group, a local source told RIA Novosti.
"The Syrian army and resistance fighters [Hezbollah] liberated the Western Qalamoun from [Daesh] terrorists following the departure of the last bus from the Sheikh-Ali/al-Rumiyat border crossing [toward Abu-Kamal city]," the source said.
Hezbollah, along with the Syrian army, has been conducting operations against Daesh on the Syrian side of the border. At the same time, the Lebanese army has been conducting an operation to liberate its border with Syria from Daesh this month.
The Syrian Air Force has conducted strikes on Daesh targets near its border with Lebanon.
The operation resulted in significant advance of Lebanese and Syrian troops in the region and severe losses of Daesh.
On Sunday, a ceasefire agreed between Lebanese army, the Hezbollah group and Daesh terrorists via mediators came into force.
