Trump's Company Considered Construction of Trump Tower in Moscow - Reports

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the newspaper Washington Post's Sunday report, citing two people familiar with the matter, Felix Sater, a US real estate developer originally from Russia, proposed the project, predicting in a November 2015 letter that he and the Trump Organization would soon celebrate both one of the biggest real estate projects and Trump’s election as president. Sater also reportedly invited Trump to come to Moscow, but the former real estate mogul never did.

The newspaper specified that the project was abandoned in late January 2016, just before the US presidential primaries. According to other sources, an unknown investor proposed the project and put Trump's name on it under a licensing agreement, but Trump's involvement and awareness of these negotiations on the issue remain unclear.

White House officials refused to comment on the report, the newspaper said, adding no public records on Trump's intention to build a Trump Tower in 2015 and 2016 were found.

In 2013, Trump said at a press conference in Russia following a beauty contest that he was discussing the construction of a skyscraper in Moscow similar to the Trump Tower in New York with Russian companies.
