15:56 GMT 14.09.2017 (Updated: 11:52 GMT 06.08.2022) The Pentagon has reportedly decided to spend some $2.2 billion on arming Syrian rebels with Soviet-style weapons.
A joint report by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) raised concerns that Washington could be using misleading documentation, thus undermining the UN's Arms Trade Treaty. The Pentagon has denied the claims.
