MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The protesters demanding that their unpaid wages be given, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said.
"On October 9, 2017, a peaceful protest by Novovolynsk miners began near the Ukrainian-Polish border on the M-07 international highway Kiev-Kovel-Yahodyn border checkpoint," the border service said in a statement.
About 70 people are continuously moving across a crosswalk some two kilometers (1.24 miles) from the Yahodyn checkpoint, therefore blocking the road between Kiev and Warsaw, according to the agency.

The protesters reportedly told the police that they were ready to allow passenger cars to pass, but that truck traffic would be completely blocked.
According to the Ukrainian news agency UNN, the miners are demanding to be paid their wages for the past two months in the total amount of 4.5 million Ukrainian hryvnia ($170,000).
