Only in Australia: Brave Woman Catches Shark With Bare Hands on Mercy Mission
09:45 GMT 11.10.2017 (Updated: 19:31 GMT 19.10.2022) Sydney resident Melissa Hatheier was swimming in a bay near Melbourne, when she stumbled upon a shark. In this video, the courageous lady who has been dubbed the “shark wrangler” is seen picking it up and throwing it back into the ocean.
As she told local media, the meter-long fish was afraid of people and was banging its head on the rocks. Hatheier felt sorry for the shark and decided to be a good Samaritan.
"I herded the shark into the shallows and then I just sort of jumped on him and put my knees on his fins. I then grabbed him around the neck so he couldn't swing around and bite me," she explained. After that the kind-hearted woman just threw the shark over the edge of the pool into the water and watched him swim away.
