Iranian authorities will respond in kind if the country's interests under the Iranian nuclear deal are harmed, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Friday.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump presented the new strategy on Iran and said that his administration is determined not to certify that Iran is in compliance with the JCPOA. The US leader also ordered the Department of the Treasury to impose new sanctions against the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for providing assistance to terrorist groups.

"If one day our interests are harmed, or if other sides refuse to fulfill their commitments, they should know that Iran would not hesitate and would respond in a corresponding manner," Rouhani said, as broadcast by Press TV.

Berlin to Try to Persuade US Congress to Preserve Iran Nuclear Deal - FM

The Iranian official said that no president can revoke an international agreement supported by the United Nations.

"This is an international multilateral deal, which has been ratified by the UN Security Council. This is a UN document. Is it possible that one president can unilaterally annul this important international deal?" the president said.

Rouhani added that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps would never stop fighting regional terrorism.

According to the Iranian president, Iran uses weapons and missiles only as means of defense.
