In a shocking revelation, a Syrian teenager told a Sputnik correspondent how Daesh terrorists executed his father in Raqqa’s city center and made a video of it.
“Six months ago, Daesh militants cut my father’s throat right in the middle of the city. They accused him of allegedly assisting the coalition aircraft and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). He was killed in front of everyone. They filmed the execution on video and uploaded it on social media networks,” Mihamed said.
One day the boy accidentally stumbled upon the video of his father’s execution and watched it.
“Daesh killed him to intimidate other residents of the city. The terrorists regularly organized such proceedings in the central streets, so that everyone would be afraid. They forced all of the residents to call them the ‘Islamic State,’ and if someone refused to do so, he was called unfaithful and was punished,” the boy added.
“We were terribly frightened. I, my mother and my five younger brothers and sisters wanted to escape Raqqa, but we could not do it. The fact is that Daesh terrorists do not allow anyone to leave the city. Those who attempted to escape were either executed or arrested,” he said.
Finally after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) entered the city and the quarter where Mihamed lived was cleared of Daesh terrorists, the family fled the city.
“We had nothing with us, no food, and no money. We surrendered to the SDF rebels and they placed us in a refugee camp. We want our city to be liberated from Daesh as soon as possible, so that we could return back. We really want to go to our father's grave and honor his memory,” Mihamed said.
The source added that the strength of the terrorists is running out; their defeats in Raqqa have undermined their morale and prevent them from fighting back.
According to SDF representatives, the Syrian rebels currently control about 90 percent of Raqqa.
The city has been under Daesh control since 2013. On November 6, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, also consisting of Arab, Assyrian and Turkmen fighters, among others, announced the start of the military operation to liberate it from the terrorist group with the assistance of the US-led coalition's airstrikes. Raqqa’s Old City was freed from Daesh last month.
