MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least six people have been killed in the Indian city of Bangaluru, while several others may be trapped as a result of a collapse of a residential building, local media reported Monday.
The incident took place in the Bangaluru district of Ejipura at 6:30 a.m. local time (1:30 GMT). Media reports claim the collapse was caused by a gas cylinder explosion.
According to India Today TV channel, Ramalinga Reddy, the home secretary of India's southwestern region Karnataka where Bangaluru is located, has arrived on the scene of the accident.

Reddy said it was unlikely that the collapse had been triggered by an explosion as the cylinders in the building had no gas in them.
The local government has pledged to pay compensation to the victims' next of kin.
