Russian Robinson Crusoe: Man Safely Rescued From Uninhabited Swedish Island
15:14 GMT 28.10.2017 (Updated: 15:16 GMT 28.10.2017) An intrepid Russian traveler, who accidentally ended up on a deserted Swedish island, has been found and returned to the mainland.
The explorer wanted to sail to Spain from Sweden in a small sailboat. However his journey ended the next very day when his vessel crashed during a sea storm.
He had to swim three kilometers in icy waters towards the nearest island, which turned out to be uninhabited piece of land.
A rescue team found the man two days later, initially by locating the remains of his boat and personal belongings. The traveler didn’t lose hope, and wrote out the word "Help" using moss gathered from the island.
