The news has been confirmed by Tim Evans, chief judge in Chicago’s Cook County. He noted that Barack Obama has been called for jury duty in Chicago, The Chicago Tribune reported.

The ex-president plans to make an appearance in court and won't find any excuses to avoid the call.
"He [Obama] made it crystal-clear to me through his representative that he would carry out his public duty as a citizen and resident of this community," the newspaper quotes the judge as saying.
The 44th US President taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago before taking the country's top job.
Tim Evans, however, did not reveal the exact dates of Obama's jury duty or the name of the court where he is set to show up.
