French President Emmanuel Macron has a fondness for ad-hoc discussions with local people during walkabouts. His recent trip to Cayenne, the capital of French Guiana, was no different.
On Friday night, Macron visited neighbourhoods on the outskirts of Cayenne and chatted to locals. However, during their conversation, the French President sensed something was amiss.
"There are a couple of people here who aren't just smoking cigarettes," Macron said. "I still have a nose."
The President warned them not to smoke marijuana, as it is harmful to their academic ambitions.
"This will not help you to do well in school, you must tell the younger ones," he advised.
