According to police, an equal number of counter protesters attended as well, and the two groups were prevented from contact by temporary steel fencing and heavily-armed riot police.
The two Tennessee marches, the first in Shelbyville and the next in Murfreesboro, were described by the racist Nationalist Front organizers as "White Lives Matter" and were joined by supporters from several other neo-Nazi and neo-Confederate groups.
The march organizers are responsible for the August melee in Charlottesville, Virginia, which turned violent and saw a counter protester killed by a white supremacist who drove his car into a crowd.
Saturday's protests in Tennessee did not result in injuries, as police searched every person seeking to enter the area, banning guns, backpacks, sticks and any other item thought to be used as a weapon.
Local lawmakers, faith leaders and many residents denounced the marches, suggesting that they could result in similar violence.
