Though the incident was recorded nearly two weeks ago on October 18, the footage only made headlines after netizens began to share videos of their scare on WhatsApp and several other social media platforms, NDTV reported.
Filmed a day before the Diwali holiday, loads of spectators gathered near the snake before locals eventually helped officials from the wildlife department capture their slippery friend.
The surprise meeting, initially thought to have been filmed in Mumbai's Dadar neighborhood, actually took place in India's northern state of Jammu and Kashmir, according to police officials.
The snake was later released into the wild.
