Adrian Johnson, father of two girls, found himself face-to-face with a milk chocolate digestive cookie package his daughters managed to score on Halloween. Lucky, eh? Unfortunately for him, the treat was 18 years past its expiration date — and well past his esophagus, too.

Yup, you heard that right.
Speaking to HuffPost UK, Johnson said the cookie had "just an awful, gone-off, long-lingering bad taste."
Taken aback by the terrible taste lingering in his mouth, the concerned father investigated.
"So I sniffed them, looked at the biscuit side, which was quite white rather than the usual brown-ish colour, and it was then that I checked the sell-by date," Johnson told the outlet. "That second bit ended up in the sink and I had to rinse my mouth and brush my teeth."
According to the tricked-by-treat dad, the cookie was given to his kids by the next door neighbor, who incidentally told him to not go "pinching Halloween treats in the first place."
"I might pop round tonight when I get back home," Johnson told the Post. "More for their sake, than to complain, as who knows what else they're keeping in their cupboards."
