It seems that the former FBI director fired by Donald Trump has also decided to shed light on the 2016 US presidential election after Hillary Clinton had released her "What Happened" book.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey will explain his role in the agency’s probe of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s private server use and alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to a press release from Macmillan Publishers.

The book, "A higher Loyalty; Truth, Lies and Leadership," is slated to go on sale in May.

"In his forthcoming book, former FBI Director James Comey shares his never-before-told experiences from some of the highest-stakes situations of his career in the past two decades of American government, exploring what good, ethical leadership looks like, and how it drives sound decisions."

Comey's decision not to charge Clinton, who has blamed the former FBI director in her book "What Happened" alongside Russia for her election loss, for sharing classified information over private, unsecured servers as secretary of state is the subject of multiple congressional investigations.

Lawmakers are also examining the use of wiretaps by Comey’s team to investigate alleged ties between Trump campaign officials and Russia — the subject of a separate probe by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who was appointed to take over after Comey’s firing.

The investigation into the alleged Russian interference in the US election, called a "witch hunt" by the US president is being conducted by the FBI and Congress. Moscow has repeatedly refuted the allegations, calling them "absolutely groundless."
