Speaking at the press conference, Sergei Lavrov said he considers the OSCE forum an effective platform for seeking resolutions to existing international and regional conflicts. In particular, the Foreign Minister said Russia supports the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine and wants the organization to work more actively towards the resolution of the Transnistria crisis.
Touching upon the recent scandal with the Russian media in the US, the Russian Foreign Minister called the pressure on US social networks appalling.
"I hope that these representatives of online media, social networks will stay loyal to the ideals of the journalistic profession, they will try not succumb to the outrageous pressure which is being carried out in the US Congress right now," Lavrov said.
At the end of the conference, the Russian Foreign Minister mentioned that Russia would host the Congress of National Dialogue, which is expected to take place in Sochi in November. According to Lavrov, Russia had already sent the invitations to the representatives of all Syrian opposition forces, both in the country and abroad, to attend the Congress. Meanwhile, Damascus has already confirmed that it would participate in the event.
