WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The in-laws of 26-year-old Devin P. Kelley, the suspected shooter who killed more than two dozen people in Texas on Sunday, were members of the church where the shooting took place, Wilson County Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said in an interview on Monday.
However, the couple was not in church during the shooting, Tackitt told CNN.

Kelley is suspected of killing 26 people and wounding at least 20 others when he opened fire in a Baptist church in the town of Sutherland Springs, Texas. After the shooting, Kelley fled the scene and later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Tackitt said.
Texas Department of Public Safety Regional Director Freeman Martin said that ten people of those injured remained in critical condition, while four others were in serious condition and the rest were either released or were in stable condition.
Martin also said that there was no domestic terrorist investigation open in relation to the shooting.

This mass murder has become the deadliest shooting incident in the history of the state of Texas and the latest in a string of similar incidents in the US. In October, a gunman opened fire at people at a country music festival, killing 58 and injuring 546 more.
