"Moscow is concerned about the development of the situation in friendly Lebanon. The positive tendencies that have successfully developed in Lebanon since the end of 2016, when as a result of M. Aoun's election as president and the formation of a coalition government led by Hariri the crisis of the executive branch was overcome, are at risk," Russian Foreign Ministry has stated.
Moscow has reminded that Lebanese President Michel Aoun had not yet accepted Hariri's resignation, referring to the fact that for such a step he needed a personal meeting with the prime minister on Lebanese soil, while his position was supported by the parliament speaker.

"In line with the Constitution of the Lebanese Republic, the resignation of the prime minister in the event of its acceptance by the country's president automatically means the dissolution of the cabinet."
Russia has also urged all external forces that could influence the situation in Lebanon to show restraint and constructive approaches.
Beside his resignation, Hariri has also said that his life was in danger because of the Hezbollah, what has greatly surprised the latter, as well as Lebanese authorities.
